Master Air Way Bill / MAWB

The MAWB – Master Air Way Bill – is issued as an air waybill for consolidated loads that are transported by plane. It includes the collected shipping goods as a whole – in contrast to air waybills for individual shipments. The preparation is carried out by the responsible consolidated freight forwarder, who is also responsible for issuing the house air waybills (HAWB) for the individual shipments.

In the case of consolidated shipments, the carrier is generally responsible for grouping the shipments and dividing them up at the destination. Consignments from different senders for different recipients are generally grouped together as part of a consolidated shipment. For this reason, the freight forwarder is always named as the sender and recipient in a MAWB.
